Vinyl Jack

With your curious, super bright mind, I had little doubt you’d be interested in the world of vinyl.

Mission accomplished.

I taught you the ropes. The two types of vinyl: 45 rpm records (the small ones that had one song on each side – these were the hit singles they played on the radio when I was a kid). Albums, also known as Long playing records, or LPs.  How a turntable works. Cleaning vinyl with sprays and two brushes.  Dropping the needle – very carefully.  The on-off switch.

Some of the things you said to Grammy and I:

“It’s different from what I would use, if I listened to music.”

“Mom puts her Christmas music on Alexa… she’s already playing it. She plays it really loud.””

You liked “Here Comes The Sun” (Grammy’s favorite song).  We listened to Abbey Road, the last album the Beatles ever made. It’s still my favorite LP and Grammy’s too.

“It’s a lot of steps compared to a phone app where you just click on a playlist and click on a song to play.”

“I liked cleaning it – that’s something no one would like to do but for some reason I like making things clean and neat. If not, it will bug me.”   — TO WHICH GRAMMY instantly replies”I wonder where you got that from Jack!!” – to which you replied “Mommy and you!”
